Children and Youth

 Children and Youth
Welcome to St. John’s!

You and your children are welcomed and loved.  We hope your time with us is relaxing and fulfilling, for all members of your family!  Here is some information which we hope you find helpful.
Our Worship Service and Children's Sharing Time

Our regular Sunday services are usually about 1 hour long. Children are invited to the front after the opening hymn and announcements for a Sharing Time with the minister. They can then go downstairs to the Sunday School with our screened volunteers, or they can stay with their families. We also have fabric bags available at the front and back of the church, with activities to keep children occupied. Ask an Usher to help you find one. Please feel free to leave the service any time your children need a break – of any sort.
Nursery (Infants – 2 yrs)

Our fully provisioned and supervised Nursery is located at the end of the upstairs hall, on the left side. It has a change table, rocking chair, crib, and toys suitable for babies and toddlers. Our Nursery supervisors are available as needed. Breastfeeding is welcomed here, or anywhere in the church.
Sunday School (3 – 10 years)

Parents are welcome to accompany the children and stay if they wish, but it is not required. If this is your child’s first time with us, please fill out a registration form with your contact information. The children listen to an age appropriate Bible story and explore its meaning through crafts, games, music and sharing. You can meet the children again after the service in the Sunday School room downstairs.

Youth Program (10 – 17 years)

At least twice monthly, youth are invited to meet following the Sharing Time portion of the Sunday worship. The “Whole People of God” curriculum is used to provide a basis for discussions of faith and spirituality. Youth are also encouraged and guided by leaders to begin an active role in the life of St. John’s. On Sundays when youth do not meet, they are encouraged to remain in the sanctuary. St. John’s youth are also part of a regional youth program coordinated by the Northern Waters Presbytery. Monthly activities with youth from other churches are scheduled.
